Before I moved to Taiwan I have never been much of a cosmetics person. Don’t get me wrong, I am a girly girl that likes makeup and fashion but I hardly ever used moisturizer when I still lived in Germany. I would say my skin is *knock on wood* pretty good with a tendency of oily, therefore, I always thought that moisturizer would break me out rather than have any benefits.
That changed dramatically after moving to Asia. I may not be on a 10-step skincare routine, but I did start to incorporate multiple steps into my daily beauty regimen and I have to say that my skin has never been in a better condition. One of the first Korean beauty products that I bought after moving to Taiwan was the Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion. Up to this day I am still loving and using this product almost every day, except for on my H2O-fix days. That is why I thought I should introduce you to some Asian beauty products, starting with one of my personal favorites.
ETUDE HOUSE PRECIOUS MINERAL ANY CUSHION: This cushion foundation is SPF50+ / PA+++ (UVA protection). The foundation comes in a removable tub of 0.52 oz. / 15 g and is available in 4 different shades: N02 Light Beige, C02 Rosy Beige, W13 Natural Beige and W24 Honey Beige.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: “This flawless cushion foundation creates beautiful pearly bright skin with its full coverage and smoothing effects.”
PRICE: I bought this during a special promotion, therefore the cushion compact came with a free refill. The regular price in Taiwan at the Etude House-flagship store currently is 880 NT$, which is around 24 EUR. The price for the refill is 480 NT$, around 13 Euro.
INGREDIENTS LIST: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Zinc Oxide (Ci 77947), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Methyl Trimethicone, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate/Dimethicone Methacrylate Copolymer, Sorbitan Isostearate, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Phenyl Trimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Mother Of Pearl, Aluminum Hydroxide, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Sodium Chloride, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Stearic Acid, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycerin, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Alcohol, Iron Oxides (Ci 77492), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491), Iron Oxides (Ci77499), Fragrance
FORMULA: The consistency is moisturizing and creamy. The air cushion puff that comes with the compact is great as it yields an even layer of just the right amount of product when you push down on the cushion sponge.
FINISH: As the product is very light-weight, the coverage is light to medium but buildable. My complexion is naturally a little bit more tan and Korean foundations tend to be on the pale side, therefore, I got my cushion in the darkest shade – Honey Beige. The color is a good match for my skin color. The finish is dewy and the foundation looks very natural and not cakey.
- dewy, natural looking finish
- moisturizing formula
- doesn’t break you out
- SPF50+ / PA+++
- as I have oily skin, I get really shiny in hot weather after a few hours
- minor under eye creasing when you layer the product
THE VERDICT: Etude House is one of Korea’s lower-end beauty brands, therefore the Precious Mineral Any Cushion is quite affordable. In terms of finish, I love this product as it looks so natural and still covers most of redness, caused by veins peeping through my skin and some minor discoloration on my face. When you have oily skin, I would recommend to use a translucent powder in Summer to set your makeup and to prevent your face from looking oily. Overall, I think this is a great product as it so uncomplicated and convenient to use and does not look like you are wearing a mask when you put it on your face.
Let me know if you have any recommendations for cushion makeup.
